Bellows Falls Senior Center is offering a Bone Builders class at the center.  

Bone Builders is a low-impact exercise program designed to strengthen bones and improve balance.  

Classes meet twice a week:        Monday and Friday mornings, at 10:00 am

The first class starts next Monday, October 24th

Call the Center in Bellows Falls to register at 463-3907.  The Director will be happy to answer any questions you may have.  

SENIOR LUNCHEONS & SPEAKER SERIES Fridays at noon, September 23 and October 21 Enjoy a healthy meal and good conversation in the dining room at 24 Main. Presenters will speak for about 30 minutes after the luncheon. RSVP to Donna at dandr.anderson@gmail or 869-3582. $7 per person September: Neal Carter will give a preview of the Matter of Balance programs scheduled to begin in October. October: registered dietician Barbara Bye will discuss healthy eating strategies for seniors.

FOOTCARE APPOINTMENTS It's that time to schedule a foot care appointment for November 17th.  So if you need your feet soaked and nails trimmed just email me for an appointment. Let the foot care nurse from the Visiting Nurses Association pamper your tootsies! To make an appointment, contact Donna at dandr.anderson@gmail or 869-3582. $20 fee.

MEALS ON WHEELS Contact Berta Martin at 869-2748 or to set up meal delivery or to volunteer. Nutritious meals delivered to seniors and others by friendly, community volunteers. Free of charge.

KNITTERS (all skill levels) Wednesdays, 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, starting September 21. This is a great opportunity to finally finish that project, untangle something you’re stuck on, get help, or just learn the pleasure of knitting. Plan holiday gifts, ranging fro simple scarves to socks. Free of charge.

Saxtons River Community Building (SRCB) will be offering a beginners’ chi kung class beginning November 4th. This is part of SRCB’s wellness  and senior programs.

Tai chi is an ancient Taoist exercise system of moderate strenuousness that emphasizes balance, body awareness, health, and breathing. Our class is based on the form developed by Cheng Man-ch’ing. All fees and donations go to the Saxtons River Community Building to support programs. Suggested donation of $10 per week.

A MATTER OF BALANCE: MANAGING CONCERNS ABOUT FALLS An 8-week course to improve balance, decrease fall risks, and increase confidence. Mondays, 1:30 pm-3:00 pm, October 3-November 21; Falls can have serious consequences, even leading to a loss of independence and emotional distress. This class combines instructor-led discussion with exercise to increase strength and balance. Anyone who is concerned about falling, regardless of ability, can participate in this research-based program which has been offered to over 40,000 people in 39 states.
